HypReSort Research Project

Project Kick-Off

We are happy to announce the start of our new research project HypReSort: Optimised recycling of carbon-black-containing plastics through the combined use of hyperspectral cameras.

As identifying and sorting carbon-black polymers based on their specific material characteristics is a challenge with conventional NIR-Systems, we are developing an integrated hyperspectral approach for the identification and sorting of technical plastics from waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).

Together with our research partners Institute of Plastics and Circular Economy (IKK) at Leibniz University Hannover and TKT Kunststoff-Technik we are working on the full recycling process from identifying the material to transferring the developed approach to more heterogeneous WEEE material streams.
