The BlackBright RGB LED Bar provides stable and reproducible lighting conditions for RGB line-scan imaging, sensor-based inspection and automated quality control. This illumination is designed for industrial customers who need reliable visible image data without complex setup procedures. It supports applications where colour and spectral data combined are relevant for inspection or sorting decisions. The BlackBright RGB LED Bar combines efficient LED technology, a robust housing design and practical system integration and is especially suited for use with the BlackIndustry RGB camera and combined RGB-SWIR workflows.
High energy efficiency
The efficient RGBWW COB LED design provides high visible light output while keeping the power consumption below 100 W per unit across all available lengths. This supports an UL-optimised system design and can simplify integration into industrial environments. This is especially relevant when illumination modules need to be integrated into compact industrial systems.
Industrial Design
The BlackBright RGB LED Bar has been developed specifically for industrial use. The passive cooling system with a dust-resistant design prevents the illumination unit from clogging in demanding environments and ensures thermal stability. A scratch-resistant optical polycarbonate cover above the light source protects the optical surface.
modular Architecture
The BlackBright RGB LED Bar is available in different lengths up to 1400 mm. This allows the illumination to be adapted to different fields of view and conveyor widths. For line-scan applications, the illumination length must match the camera field of view and the inspected material flow. Therefore the BlackBirght RGB LED Bar can be integrated easily into different application systems.
With its RGBWW COB LED concept, the BlackBright RGB LED Bar combines the three primary colour channels, red, green and blue, with two warm-white channels. This spectral design supports high colour rendering across the visible range. Together with the BlackBright FMWIR illumination, the BlackBright RGB LED Bar provides an optimised illumination setup for combined RGB and hyperspectral imaging data acquisition, supporting reliable colour information and spectral measurements in RGB and SWIR workflows.

Applications
Improved colour rendering for sorting and inspection
In recycling applications such as plastic recycling, RGB imaging provides the visual information. This can support the detection of visible contamination, object positioning and general material appearance. When combined with SWIR hyperspectral imaging, RGB data adds visual context to material-specific spectral information. While RGB imaging captures what is visible, SWIR hyperspectral imaging can identify material differences that are not reliably visible in conventional colour images.
In the food industry, controlled visible illumination supports the evaluation of colour, quality, visible defects and foreign material. Stable RGB image acquisition can help create comparable image data across samples, batches and inspection conditions.
In combination with SWIR hyperspectral imaging, RGB data can provide visual context, while hyperspectral data supports the analysis of material-specific differences beyond the visible range.

Combined technology
Sensor Fusion: RGB and SWIR combined
The BlackBright RGB LED Bar is designed for the combined use with BlackIndustry RGB camera. In addition, the RGB illumination and camera can be used together with the BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 cameras and BlackBright FMWIR illumination for RGB and hyperspectral data acquisitons. Both cameras can be digitally mapped via the BlackFusion software enabeling a true sensor fusion for industrial inspection and sorting. The RGB imaging provides high-resolution visual information, while SWIR hyperspectral imaging delivers material-specific spectral information beyond the visible range.
Seamless integration

Our customer Hochschule Darmstadt works with the combined setup of BlackIndustry RGB and BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 Max camera and the illumination system of BlackBright RGB LED Bar and BlackBright FMWIR. They are using this setup to analyse and identify different types of plastic for reliable sorting processes.
