The BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 Pro Max is a pushbroom hyperspectral line-scan camera developed for applications requiring high spatial and spectral detail. With 2560 spatial pixels and up to 399 spectral bands, it resolves small objects, fine material structures and short spatial transitions within heterogeneous samples. A frame rate of up to 2230 Hz in ROI mode enables high-speed acquisition when selected spectral regions are sufficient for the respective measurement task. The integrated NVIDIA Jetson GPU supports application-specific preprocessing and classification directly on the camera.

 

This hyperspectral camera is also available as a version with 640 px spatial resolution, named BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 and 1280 px spatial resolution called BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 Max.

Outstanding Sensitivity

The outstanding sensitivity in the SWIR range from 950 nm to 1750 nm is perfect for the use in industrial in-line applications. With a frame rate of 197 Hz at full frame and up to 1330 Hz at ROI, the sensor is suitable for high conveyor belt speeds, ideal for sorting applications.

Hyperspectral Imaging Application Recycling

Recycling streams often contain small particles, thin fragments and closely spaced materials that are difficult to separate spatially. With 2592 pixels across the scan line, the BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 Pro Max captures fine object boundaries and local variations within heterogeneous material streams. Its spectral range from 950 to 1750 nm supports the differentiation of materials with distinct SWIR characteristics, while ROI acquisition with frame rates of up to 2230 Hz enables high-speed inspection when selected wavelength regions are sufficient for the sorting task.

Hyperspectral Imaging Application Food Industry

Foreign objects, defects and compositional variations in food products can be small, irregularly distributed or visually similar to the surrounding product. The 2592-pixel spatial resolution of the BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 Pro Max supports precise localisation of contaminants and local quality deviations.

 

A spectral sampling interval of up to 0.96 nm per pixel provides a detailed representation of composition-related spectral differences, while the integrated NVIDIA Jetson GPU enables application-specific classification directly on the camera.

Hyperspectral Imaging Application Geology

Mineral samples, drill cores and fragmented rocks frequently contain fine veins, inclusions and short spatial transitions between different material phases. The BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 Pro Max combines 2592 spatial pixels with finely sampled spectral data between 950 and 1750 nm, enabling detailed spatial mapping of spectral variations across complex samples. For applications requiring increased spectral detail, the optional 5 µm slit improves the separation of narrow or closely spaced spectral characteristics within the covered wavelength range.

Geology

We are excited to introduce the new 5 µm slit option for our BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 cameras, setting a new standard in high-resolution hyperspectral imaging. This enhancement significantly improves spectral resolution in the 950-1750 nm range, allowing for the detection of previously inaccessible mineral absorption features. With a spectral resolution of up to 0.96 nm per pixel, this innovation enables more precise material differentiation, including the identification of subtle spectral characteristics such as those found in calcite (CaCO₃). The combination of over 2500 spatial pixels and an approximate 2 nm spectroscopic resolution expands the possibilities for chemical imaging, particularly in mining applications.

Illumination

The BlackBright Fast Medium Wave IR has been developed specifically for the combined use with the BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 Pro Max camera. This high-performance illumination unit generates a focused and homogeneous illumination line that is optimised for hyperspectral line-scan cameras operating in the SWIR range (900 – 1800 nm) where stable measurement conditions and reliable spectral data are essential.

It is designed for seamless integration and maximum flexibility with our hyperspectral cameras. Whether in the food industry, recycling industry or any other optical sorting application – BlackStudio delivers precise control, real-time data acquisition and advanced analysis tools tailored to your needs.

On-Camera Classifier

Our BlackIndustry cameras with software version 1.0.13 and later, now feature an on-camera classifier. The previously in BlackStudio trained classifier can be transferred directly to the camera, enabling real-time classification of newly captured data using the Classified Color output mode. This allows classification results to be used immediately in production without additional hardware. By transmitting only classified data, the feature reduces Ethernet bandwidth usage and eliminates processing overhead on the receiving device, ensuring efficient and streamlined operations.

Multi-ROI

Multi-ROI (Region of Interest) acquisition allows selected spectral regions to be recorded instead of the complete available spectrum. Reducing the number of read-out bands lowers the data volume and increases the achievable frame rate up to 2330 Hz, depending on the selected configuration. Operating at a spatial resolution of 2592 px, this camera is designed to keep pace with fast industrial conveyor belts.

Next generation Sony’s SenSWIR sensor technology – implemented in HAIP Solutions‘ BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 / Max.

Sony’s SenSWIR digital sensors set new standards with a smaller pixel size, improved image uniformity and increased spectral sensitivity in the SWIR spectrum. Paired with the implementation of the Cu-Cu connection, this technology reduces the thickness of the top indium-phosphorus (InP) layer, allowing more light to reach the underlying InGaAs layer. In combination with the high signal-to-noise ratio of the BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 cameras and the integrated black pixels, the sensitivity in the range from 1600 nm to 1730 nm is outstanding. SenSWIR sensors are used in sorting applications, industrial inspection and environmental monitoring, among others, especially in difficult conditions where conventional sensors fail. They are particularly useful for areas requiring versatile spectral analysis and precise object detection.
