HAIP Solutions‘ BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 is a smart line-scanning (pushbroom) short-wave infrared hyperspectral imaging camera that allows the acquisition of real-time spectral data with a spatial resolution of 640 px. It captures up to 399 spectral bands from 950 to 1750 nm and operates at 450 Hz across the full spectral range and reaches up to 1330 Hz in Multi-ROI mode. An integrated NVIDIA Jetson GPU supports on-camera pre-processing and classification.

This hyperspectral camera is also available as a version with 1280 px spatial resolution, named BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 Max.

Sensitive SWIR Detection

The sensitivity in the SWIR range from 950 nm to 1750 nm supports its use in industrial in-line applications. With a frame rate of 450 Hz across the full spectral range and up to 1330 Hz in Multi-ROI mode, the camera supports inspection and sorting processes on fast-moving conveyor belts.

Combining superior optical design with advanced holographic transmission grating technology, high-end electronics and a sensitive next generation InGaAs detector, the BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 camera is an ideal tool for demanding environments.

Individual pre-processing

Hyperspectral Imaging Application Recycling

Industrial sorting processes require sufficient spectral information that matches the conveyor belt speed. The BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 captures up to 399 spectral bands across 640 spatial pixels at 450 Hz over the full spectral range. Multi-ROI acquisition increases the frame rate to up to 1330 Hz by limiting acquisition to task-relevant wavelength regions. This makes the camera suitable for high-throughput classification of materials that show distinguishable spectral characteristics within mixed waste, plastics, textiles, and construction and demolition waste.

Hyperspectral Imaging Application Food Industry

Food products, contaminants and processing materials can appear similar in visible images while differing in their SWIR absorption and reflection characteristics. The BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 captures composition-related information from 950 to 1750 nm and records the complete spectral range at up to 450 Hz. This supports continuous inspection processes in which high throughput and comprehensive spectral information are required. Classifiers trained in BlackStudio can be transferred to the camera for direct in-line classification.

Geology & Vegetation

In geology, the BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 helps differentiate materials with characteristic spectral features between 950 and 1750 nm across drill cores, rock surfaces and fragmented samples.

 

In vegetation analysis, the covered SWIR range provides information related to water content and composition-related differences between plant samples. With 640 spatial pixels and 450 Hz across the full spectral range, the camera enables efficient scanning of extensive sample areas, core sections and plant series.

Illumination

The BlackBright Fast Medium Wave IR has been developed specifically for the combined use with the BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 camera. This high-performance illumination unit generates a focused and homogeneous illumination line that is optimised for hyperspectral line-scan cameras operating in the SWIR range (900 – 1800 nm) where stable measurement conditions and reliable spectral data are essential.

It is designed for seamless integration and maximum flexibility with our hyperspectral cameras. On-Camera Classifier

Our BlackIndustry cameras with software version 1.0.13 and later feature an on-camera classifier. The previously in BlackStudio trained classifier can be transferred directly to the camera, enabling real-time classification of newly captured data using the Classified Color output mode. This allows classification results to be used immediately in production without additional hardware. By transmitting only classified data, the feature reduces Ethernet bandwidth usage and eliminates processing overhead on the receiving device, ensuring efficient and streamlined operations.

Multi-ROI

Multi-ROI (Region of Interest) acquisition allows selected spectral regions to be recorded instead of the complete available spectrum. Reducing the number of read-out bands lowers the data volume and increases the achievable frame rate from 450 Hz across the full spectral range to up to 1330 Hz, depending on the selected configuration. Operating at a spatial resolution of 640 px, this camera is designed to keep pace with fast industrial conveyor belts.

Next generation Sony’s SenSWIR sensor technology – implemented in HAIP Solutions‘ BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 / Max.

Sony’s SenSWIR digital sensors set new standards with a smaller pixel size, improved image uniformity and increased spectral sensitivity in the SWIR spectrum. Paired with the implementation of the Cu-Cu connection, this technology reduces the thickness of the top indium-phosphorus (InP) layer, allowing more light to reach the underlying InGaAs layer. In combination with the high signal-to-noise ratio of the BlackIndustry SWIR 1.7 cameras and the integrated black pixels, the sensitivity in the range from 1600 nm to 1730 nm is outstanding. SenSWIR sensors are used in sorting applications, industrial inspection and environmental monitoring, among others, especially in difficult conditions where conventional sensors fail. They are particularly useful for areas requiring versatile spectral analysis and precise object detection.
